A lawyer, according to Blacks Law Dictionary, is "a person learned in the law; as an attorney, counsel or solicitor; a person who is practicing law." Law is the system of rules of conduct established by the sovereign government of a society to correct wrongs, maintain the stability of political and social authority, and deliver justice.
Working as a lawyer involves the practical application of abstract legal theories and knowledge to solve specific individualized problems, or to advance the interests of those who retain lawyers to perform legal services.
The role of the lawyer varies significantly across legal jurisdictions, and so it can be treated here in only the most general terms.
律师职业的优点
1、自由
工作到一定阶段(通常是到了合伙人阶段)，可以自由的决定做什么不做什么，可以自由地选择上班的时间和地点，可以自由地搭建自己的团队。
2、收入不错，相对稳定
社会上最有钱的一小部分人肯定不是律师，但律师通常是相对有钱的。顶级的律师一个人一年收入几千万，超过了很多上市公司一年的收入，而且上市公司可能有亏有赚，律师亏钱的可能性不大。做得很好的律师，养几匹马，买几艘游艇，买架私人飞机都不是问题。
律师的'现金流不错，一方面律师不用像企业家那样有点钱都用来扩大生产，另一方面律师的风险意识太高，也导致很多律师宁可钱趴在账户上也不愿意去做投资。例如我们所出国旅游，可以用三个字概括，买买买。
3、社会地位不错
虽然骂律师的人不少，虽然很多律师生活很苦逼，虽然律师不被各种政府部门待见，但人一辈子很可能总有那么几次有求于律师的时候，而且这个社会是看钱的社会，收入水平很大程度上决定了社会地位。

第五条 律师应当忠于宪法、法律，恪守律师职业道德和执业纪律。

第八条 律师应当保守在执业活动中知悉的国家秘密、商业秘密，不得泄露当事人的隐私。
律师对在执业活动中知悉的委托人和其他人不愿泄露的情况和信息，应当予以保密。但是，委托人或者其他人准备或者正在实施的危害国家安全、公共安全以及其他严重危害他人人身、财产安全的犯罪事实和信息除外。
第九条 律师应当尊重同行，公平竞争，同业互助。
第十条 律师协会倡导律师关注、支持、积极参加社会公益事业。
第十一条 律师在执业期间不得以非律师身份从事法律服务。
律师只能在一个律师事务所执业。
律师不得在受到停止执业处罚期间继续执业，或者在律师事务所被停业整顿期间、注销后继续以原所名义执业。
第十二条 律师不得在同一案件中为双方当事人担任代理人，不得代理与本人或者其近亲属有利益冲突的法律事务。
第十三条 律师担任各级人民代表大会常务委员会组成人员的，任职期间不得从事诉讼代理或者辩护业务。
第十四条 律师不得为以下行为：
(一)产生不良社会影响，有损律师行业声誉的行为;
(二)妨碍国家司法、行政机关依法行使职权的行为;
(三)参加法律所禁止的机构、组织或者社会团体;
(四)其他违反法律、法规、律师协会行业规范及职业道德的行为。
(五)其他违反社会公德，严重损害律师职业形象的行为。
